- Participated in projects on video copy detection, face annotation, scene recognition, shape matching, image classification, text detection in web images, and manifold learning.
- Developed an automatic face recognition engine for the Universally Connected Display (UCD) project. Conducted research on the photo analyzer that creates metadata from photos using machine learning techniques for general concept detection.
- Developed an engine for automatically tagging personal photos. This technique has been applied in a platform-solution-based UI ingredient for all the DTV, STB, and media center products, such as the ViivLR.

- Developed functional models for MBRS (macro-block reconstruction setup) module and explore algorithms of optimizing storage and reducing computational complexity for a H.264 video decoder

- Designed and developed video codecs for recordable DVD products, concentrating on encoder optimization.
- Worked on application-layer QoS control for Netplay DVD products, which are capable of playing streaming video and audio via a wired or wireless home network.
