The birth place of planets
Protoplanetary disk
The protoplanetary disk, in which planets and other Solar-System objects form, is an important stage before the birth of our Solar System. As a transition phase between the gas-dominated prestellar core, which is a few thousands times larger than the Solar System, and the planetary system, which is devoid of gas, the disk remains largely a mystery to us.
