Chao Wang is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan Normal University. He is interested in studying cyber-physical systems (CPS), an informed integration between computing system and the environment within which the system operates. Often, research ideas are inspired from the field of real-time, fault-tolerant systems, and are applied in terms of dependable data communication and edge computing.

Some on-going investigations include:

  1. how environmental factors such as sunlight and moving elements may impact/benefit the systems therein,
  2. how purposeful environment re-configurations may improve the effectiveness and efficiency of CPS systems operation, and
  3. how digital twin may re-configure itself to react to changes in the physical part it connect to.

Chao received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis in 2019, and his M.S. in Computer and Communication Engineering in 2010 and B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2009, both from National Cheng Kung University. He is a member of ACM and IEEE.

On his academic journey, Chao feels grateful to be trained under the direction of Professor Kuo-Feng Ssu at National Cheng Kung University, Professor Jonathan Turner, Professor Christopher Gill, and Professor Chenyang Lu at Washington University in St. Louis. They guide him and sustain him along this journey.

In his late twenties, Chao received Jesus Christ as his savior. He was commissioned as deacon at Taiwanese Presbyterian Church of Greater St. Louis, and now he serves at National Taiwan Normal University.

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
若有人講道,他要按着上帝的聖言講;若有人服事,他要按着上帝所賜的力量服事,好讓上帝在凡事上因耶穌基督得榮耀。

–1 Peter 彼得前書 4:11a

Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.
我所見為善為美的,就是人在神賜他一生的日子吃喝,享受日光之下勞碌得來的好處,因為這是他的分。
