What: This discursive or semantic database is modeled on online corpus (for an example, click here) to explore the patterns of language in use. This databse or corpus takes its materials from published papers in the social sciences and zero in on the "stance features" which concerns establishing effective authorial voice in academic paper.
How: So far, 15 published articles are selected and analyzed. More will be added later. Each 'introduction' in these articles was firstly divided into three moves according to their rhetorical purposes. Then the whole text is divided up into clauses/ sentences and then encoded with a stance value.
Who: This database targets novice academic writers aiming to publish their papers.
