A Decade after Katrina: Do We Know Better the Relationship between Intense Tropical Cyclone Activity and Global Warming? / Prof Johnny Chan(香港城市大學能源環境學院) Abstract ======== In 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the US, creating a huge disaster. At about the same time, two papers were published suggesting the possibility of an increasing frequency of intense tropical cyclones. However, an opposing view was that the trend was either due to analyzing a short time series or the data in the past were not as good. The debate went on. This presentation will summarize what has gone on since Katrina and discuss what we know so far as to which view is more likely to be correct.
